Isaiah 25

ScriptureIsaiah 25:9In that day they will say,“Surely this is our God;we trusted in him, and he saved us.This is the Lord, we trusted in him;let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”Observation - What does it say? When Jesus comes again, all those who trusted in him will see him and rejoice in their salvation. The world will see that their trusting was not in vain and that God is indeed faithful and did come to save them as he promised he would.Understanding - What does it mean? Some versions translate that word trusted as waited. The picture I imagine is of meeting someone for coffee and arriving at the coffee shop before them. Although I don’t see them anywhere at first, I trust they will be true to their word to show up, so I wait patiently for them. And, when they walk in the door I am happy to see that my trusting them and waiting was not in vain.
Those who trust in God and wait for him will be saved.
Romans 5:5 ...and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
Life ApplicationWhat are you waiting on?As I’m going about my day today, meditate on the fact that God will come again. And, set my heart and mind in a posture of trusting him and waiting for that day.As we read yesterday, I want to be eagerly awaiting my Savior’s return rather than allowing myself to become distracted and complacent. Waiting doesn’t mean wasting our lives staring at the sky with binoculars all day looking for Jesus to come. Rather, it is a heart posture. I want to spend my life focused on doing the good works God prepared in advance for me, while at the same time keeping my eyes and heart in a place of continual joyful anticipation of God’s return.God, help me to do this! Thank you that our hope doesn't disappoint but that we will actually get to see you face to face and rejoice together with all believers throughout history in our salvation! Amen.
