Day 24
Week 4: A Challenge

WORSHIP
Daniel 9:4-8 (NIV) 4 I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed: "O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with all who love him and obey his commands, 5 we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws. 6 We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. 7 "Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame--the men of Judah and people of Jerusalem and all Israel, both near and far, in all the countries where you have scattered us because of our unfaithfulness to you. 8 O LORD, we and our kings, our princes and our fathers are covered with shame because we have sinned against you.
Too often we rush into God's presence and ask for things, without first pausing to worship Him. Another way that Daniel prepared himself for prayer was to spend time in worship.Listen to his words of worship woven into his prayer:
- Great and awesome God who keeps His promises of love
- Lord you are righteous
- Lord you are merciful and forgiving
- Lord you fulfill your promises to your people
It's important that we focus on the character of God and not become too preoccupied with ourselves and our burdens. What Daniel is doing is interceding on behalf of the people by asking God to move according to His nature and character.Spend some time in worship today.Don’t forget to join us at church on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7pm for Worship Prayer.
