1 Samuel 22
UnderstandingDavid drew the troubled, those in debt and the discontent…those who wanted something different, something better. I’m reminded of our church’s name – Desert Streams – and the desire for us to be like a refreshing stream in the desert. David was so different than what the people were experiencing with King Saul that over 400 people sought him out…in a cave! I’m sure David was amazing; but it was likely the anointing of God on David’s life and how he lived that out that drew them. And we have the opportunity to live that out today!Life ApplicationGod, may we (as individuals) and Desert Streams (as a whole) be a source of refuge and refreshing for people that are seeking…seeking something better, something different. May we draw the troubled, the distressed, the hurting and broken, the discontent and those in debt and may they find peace, love and joy in You. May we recognize, today, our opportunities to be living examples and extensions of the fruits of the Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control – in every situation and with everyone we meet.
