Psalm_103

Scripture

Psalms 103:2

“Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things He does for me.”
‭‭
Observation-What does it say?

In this psalm, David gives all his praises to God. He recognizes God for who He is. God is forgiving, a healer, redeemer, righteous, compassionate and tender father, merciful, who is slow to anger, and filled with unfailing love. David praises God with all his might and encourages all of God’s creation to do the same.

Understanding-What does it mean?

In the world we live in now, it’s so easy to be negative. But I choose to be positive, and see all the things God has done for me!

David went through his share of trials in his life. From hiding from King Saul, his affair with Bathsheba, to the death of his unborn child (from his affair), and to constantly being pursued by his enemies. David could have easily blamed God, and focused on all the negatives in his life. But what did David do instead?! He prayed daily to God! He gave God praise! He focused on the characteristics of who God was, and remembered all the things that God had done in his life! When all was said and done, David had no choice but to be in awe of what an amazing God he served!

It can be so easy to get caught up in all the things wrong in our lives. I believe the enemy prefers us to be distracted with those things because when we do that, we lose focus on the goodness of God and we can become depressed. Don’t allow the enemy to gain that foothold on us. Don’t let the enemy rob us of that joy that David was experiencing in his psalms. Focus on God and His goodness. Count the many blessings in our lives. Remember God’s true character and His undying love for us. Give God all the praise and let Him fill our hearts with joy and excitement. Let God renew our youth like eagles!

“He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!”-‭‭Psalm‬ ‭103:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Life Application

Start today with prayer and thanksgiving!

Thank You God for your unfailing love. Despite my sinfulness, You deem me worthy. You provide my every need. You protect me each and every day and you heal me when I’m in need. You are always with me through my ups and downs in life. There is nothing that I can do that can separate me from Your love. You chose me before I even knew You. That is why I choose to live for You. Praise You Jesus! Praise Your Holy Name. Amen.
