Psalm 139-7.21.21

SCRIPTURE

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭139:23-24‬ ‬‬

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.”
‭‭

OBSERVATION-What does it say?

In this psalm of David, he writes how God knows every detail of his life. God was there before he was born. God is there when he wakes. God is there while he sleeps. God will be there when he dies and goes to Heaven. God is with him every step of the way. For that, David loves God. He calls out to God in this psalm and asks God to search his heart, and remove anything in it that offends Him. David wants to be one with God and yearns to please Him in everything he does.

UNDERSTANDING-What does it mean?

Desire to live a life that is pleasing to God.

David is known for being the man after God’s own heart. He desired to live a life that pleased God. Now David was far from perfect. He did mess up quite a few times along the way. But the thing that separates David from most is the repentance in his heart. He knew and owned his mistakes. He turned away from them, learned from them, and grew from them. David knew all the great things that God had done for him in his life. And now, all David wants to do is to express that gratitude towards God by dedicating and living his life for Him. That is why David calls out to God in verses 23 & 24. He doesn’t want anything getting in the way of ruining that relationship he has with Him.

LIFE APPLICATION

What is holding me back of gaining a stronger relationship with God?

Take some time to pray today and ask God what things in your life are holding you back. Allow the Holy Spirit to speak and reveal to you what those things are. Repent against those things and draw closer to God. Abide in Him, and He will abide in you. See how blessed you will be because of it. 😊

“Remain in me, and I will remain in you.”
