Psalm 15
Scripture
Psalm 15
A psalm of David.
1 Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?
Who may live on your holy mountain?
2 The one whose walk is blameless,
who does what is righteous,
who speaks the truth from their heart;
3 whose tongue utters no slander,
who does no wrong to a neighbor,
and casts no slur on others;
4 who despises a vile person
but honors those who fear the Lord;
who keeps an oath even when it hurts,
and does not change their mind;
5 who lends money to the poor without interest;
who does not accept a bribe against the innocent.
Whoever does these things
will never be shaken.
Observation
David writes a poetic song where he asks the question :
Who may come before God, who can enter His sanctuary?
David was a man after God's own heart. David came to an understanding that the behaviour of a man or woman of God should be reflected in that person's behaviour.
David goes on to describe the type of character of the man or woman who is fit to enter Gods presence. He talks about his or her character among their friends and neighbors, and his or her character among difficult people. David continues to then describe the blessings that come from this character. “They will never be shaken.”
Understanding
If we are to be men and women after God’s own heart and want to be able to experience the fullness of all God has for us daily, then we need to realize character matters. God cares about how we carry ourselves and not just with those we like or get along with, but with even the ones who irritate us or maybe don’t see things the way we do.
God has called us as the Body of Christ to be trustworthy, honest, honorable, and generous in all areas of our lives.
Life Application
Jesus, I want to be a man after your own heart, to be able to dwell in your presence daily. Help me to walk the way You did. Help me to love others in such a way that I honor them with my words and actions. Help me to be trustworthy, honest, and honorable. Jesus help me to be generous and not just with my money, but with my time and patience.
