Psalm 33-7.21.22

Scripture

Psalm 33

1 Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him. 2 Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. 4 For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. 5 The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. 6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. 7 He gathers the waters of the sea into jars ; he puts the deep into storehouses. 8 Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him. 9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. 10 The LORD foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. 11 But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance. 13 From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind; 14 from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth-- 15 he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. 16 No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. 17 A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save. 18 But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, 19 to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. 20 We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. 21 In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. 22 May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you.

Observation-What does it say?

I love the picture that is painted in this passage of how amazing God truly is. This passage starts off by challenging us to sing joyfully to the Lord and to praise God. It goes on to tell us to shout for joy. As we continue reading, it explains why we should praise Him. This passage talks about how true God’s word is, how His words are powerful and bring life. Just by speaking, He created the Heavens and the stars. The more you continue to read, the more your faith and hope are built on Jesus. By the end of the passage we see that we can put our trust in God’s plans .

Understanding-What does it mean?

If this passage doesn’t stir up your faith, I’m not sure we are reading the same thing. As I read this passage it makes me want to shout and worship God. I want to worship Him because He is so amazing and He deserves it. I want to worship Him because I love Him and am so thankful He created us. I also I want to worship God because I know I can trust Him in all I do. I know God’s plans are good and that they will stand firm. I worship God because I know He is watching over me, that He is our help and our shield. The God who created the heavens and earth, watches over me!! His unfailing love rests on us. I think that if we stop and allow this passage to sink in, we will begin to feel that love resting upon us.  As we think about how amazing God is, we can’t help but worship Him.

Life Application

It’s time we take our eyes off all the chaos going on in the world. It’s time we stop dwelling on all the bad, all the hurt, all the trials. It’s time we turn our eyes to our creator. It’s time we worship God for who He is. I’m not saying ignore the bad, but what I am saying is take your eyes off of it and look to God. Start to worship Him. Let your eyes gaze upon how amazing He is. Begin to see how faithful and true His words are.  It’s time we allow God to take up real estate in our heads instead of the chaos.
