Psalm 98 - 3.15.2024

Scripture - Pick one verse that stood out to you.

Psalm 98:1,2

Sing to the Lord a new song,

    for he has done marvelous things;

his right hand and his holy arm

    have worked salvation for him.

The Lord has made his salvation known

and revealed his righteousness to the nations.

1 Timothy 2:1-4

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Observation - What about this verse stands out to you?

The absolute, unadulterated joy of Psalm 98 stood out to me. I wasn’t sure if I would journal about psalm 98 today but then when I re-read the apostle Paul’s words to Timothy I just knew that the same Spirit which exalted the Savior in psalm 98, was the same Spirit that urges us to pray for, petition, intercede and thank all people. Yikes. What a tall task you ask of us, Lord.

But what would it feel like, to please our Savior.

My loving God who wants all people to be saved.

Application - How will you apply this to your life?

Sing to the Lord a new song! I will apply what I have learned today by singing unto the Lord! Help me to find a song to praise and worship you with today!

I will petition, pray for, intercede, and thank all people today! Including the ones in authority over me!

Thank you God for Your Spirit of Joy! Thank you God for Your Spirit of Peace!

Prayer - Write out a prayer.

Lord, help me to apply what I have learned this morning. Fill me with the joy that is in psalm 98. Fill me with the joy that the psalmist is singing about. Fill me with the joy that is my loving Savior Jesus Christ.

Lord, I pray for the future president of this country. May they come to fully know and obey you. I pray for the political leaders in California, that they would turn their hearts completely towards you. I pray for the christian leaders in our nation, may you grant them wisdom and love. I pray for the christian leaders in our state, may they be filled with your joy, wisdom and love. I pray for our local church leaders, may you continue to use them to bring the love of Christ to all people. May we all choose to live lives that want to please You. The One who desires that we would all be saved.

I thank you Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

I am grateful for my pastors, my bosses, my parents, and all the various societal leaders who work in the background to give me the life that I currently have. I am grateful for it all.

In the name of Jesus do I pray, amen.
