Ezekiel 17
ScriptureEzekiel 17:24And all the trees of the field shall know that I am the Lord; I bring low the high tree, and make high the low tree, dry up the green tree, and make the dry tree flourish. I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it.”Observation - What does it say?In this prophetic parable about Babylon and Jerusalem, God declares that he will take the high, green tree and bring it low. And, he will also take the low, dry tree and make it grow tall and flourish. For Israel, because of their idolatry and sin, God's glory had departed from them and they were facing God's judgment. But thank God that isn't the end of the story! The final picture is one of beauty, life, influence and being a living testimony to the Everlasting God.Understanding - What does it mean?God's is ultimately working all things for the good of those who love him.
By the end of my 11th grade year, I had drifted hard from God. I had made so many poor decisions and had truly felt I destroyed my life. I was void of hope or joy. I had to face many of the negative consequences of my actions, but praise God, he grabbed ahold of me in my brokenness and despair and in his love exalted me! He has restored and redeemed my life!
This is such a comforting word to those who feel they have drifted from God. Like the prodigal son, we can all experience the Father's love and exalting if we will turn from our sin toward him. Although there may be sorrow for the night, God brings joy in the morning.
Life ApplicationPraise God for what he's done in my life!
