Proverbs 4-4.28.22
Scripture
Proverbs 4:1-2, 4 NIV
“Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction; pay attention and gain understanding. I give you sound learning, so do not forsake my teaching… Then he taught me, and he said to me, “Take hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands, and you will live.”
Observation
The author writes about seeking wisdom and about obedience.
Understanding
The difference between knowledge and wisdom is that knowledge is simply knowing, while wisdom is a combination of knowledge and insight, the understanding mentioned in the instruction in verse 1. While we in our lives constantly search for knowledge, it’s equally important to gain the understanding behind it, especially in something as complex as the Bible, God’s own living word.
Life Application
We need to truly start to gain understanding of God’s word. As you go forth, spending time in His Word, in prayer, start to think about the importance and weight behind the words. This is something that can be achieved naturally, however it’s also an amazing idea to bring it to God, after all He is a master at changing our perspective and understanding in areas He wants to highlight to us.
